So, can we then pray to you direct for graces or do we pray to you to ask for your intercession to obtain the graces from God?
Mother Mary’s answer:
Thanks be to God.
Meaning: Here Mother Mary clarifies the real meaning of the event that took place at the Wedding of Cana when Jesus performed the Miracle of changing water into wine upon Mother Mary’s request, even if His time has not yet come.
Jesus did this not because He felt beholden to Mother Mary or that Mother Mary has the power to persuade God to go against His better judgement but that she can obtain special favors from God because she knows God’s heart well.
This story also explains the real meaning of her title as Mediatrix of all Graces. Mother Mary does not act her own volition and dispense of graces on her own accord. All graces that we receive from her are from God. This is something anyone who has received graces through Mother Mary’s intercession or any saint should remember. This is why she said: First thank God then thank me. (Chapter 13:The Mystery that is Mary)
Question: So it’ ok for us to always come to you for your help with God but we should never forget God in the process of doing so?
Mother Mary’s answer:
Meaning: Yes. Intercessor par excellence is also the definition of Mediatrix of all Graces. Par excellence means “better or more than all others of the same kind”:7
